Nestled in the heart of Petaling Jaya, The Farm is a prime piece of real estate. In this age and place, its unthinkable to have a habitable house with a large designed greenery catered for the leisure and enjoyment of the occupants inside.
And that’s exactly what we, PJ Care Centre did, transforming an urban bungalow house into a tastefully design nursing home, complete with nursing amenities and sprawling green spaces.
Design Concept
We started with a vision. A vision that transcend all typical nursing homes that we usually recognize and remember. We wanted our residents to enjoy green spaces, yet able to rest comfortably in a modern house. We wanted to introduce farming and greening activities into our nursing home as a core element too, without sacrificing the comfort and safety of a control environment of a nursing home. We wanted to bring the calmness of the farming lifestyle back to the residents which they fondly familiar with. We wanted our residents to feel alive again, but not just another resident in our centre.
Numerous experts and great minds on the fields of geriatrics have agreed that gardening and farming activities have many benefits for senior citizens, including increasing their activeness and stimulating their senses by ways of smell, touch and visual. All this will help to keep them alert, and particularly beneficial for seniors with dementia. It will also help create a strong bonds of friendships within the community of residents.
Who is it for
This nursing home is meant for senior citizens whom appreciate the tranquility of garden landscape and has a knack for getting their fingers dirty in our urban farm which are purposed designed for the accessibility of senior citizens, including those that are wheelchair bound. Getting old is just a figure and number, but feeling old is a choice. In our centre here, you have a choice to be young again and enjoy finer things in life, such as a leisure walk among our carefully selected plants which are very fragrant, colorful and attractive. Gone are those days which you wake up and have breakfast within four walls in the communal dining area, instead be here to enjoy our designer ponds which pleases the eyes and soothe the souls.
Amneties
We provide a large activity space which the residents can move around freely and be active in a safe space. Assistance are provided at all time by our experienced and trained caregiver.
Our toilet is purposed built for our senior residents, complete with grab bar, anti slip floors and wheelchair accessible wash hand basin.
Rooms
As per all our sister branches, we strongly believe in the privacy of all our residence. Hence all our residents are assign to a room, either single bedded or double bedded. Long gone are the days where we see residents sleeping in a dormitory style arrangement like an institute. With a well design and well equipped room created for the senior residents, they can rest and sleep within the comfort of a room.
Each room is provided with a natural latex mattress combined with a solid wood bed frame, complete with a comfortable bedsheet, blanket and a pillow. All this are carefully selected with the proper hardness that are suitable for all senior residents. Even the height of the bed has been carefully selected to provide the safest environment for them. With this setup, we have achieved a resting area that feels like a home, but yet all safety concerns have been addressed. The room is also complete with a bedside table and a cabinet for personal articles.
